Professor Anthony King holds a chair in sociology at the University of Exeter. He has written widely on the armed forces, including his latest book The Transformation of Europe's Armed Forces: from the Rhine to Afghanistan (Cambridge University Press), which is published this month. He is currently working on a book on cohesion and infantry tactics in the armies of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, planned for publication in 2012. As a result of his research, he has been working closely with the armed forces as an adviser, most recently contributing to JDP 3-40 Security and Stabilisation and working as a member of the Prism Cell in Regional Command (South) in Kandahar during 2009-10.
