Tim Cooper is Global Economic Strategist at Business Monitor International (BMI). As part of the Global Country Risk and Financial Markets team, he is responsible for coordinating and developing BMI's global macroeconomic assumptions and forecasts. He also serves as editor of BMI's flagship Global Macro Monitor publication, is the primary analyst for the US and Canadian economies, and prior to his current appointment, did stints in the Latin America and Asia teams. His pre-BMI career included positions at the Yale Centre for the Study of Globalisation and in the Houses of Parliament, on-the-ground volunteer work for a US Presidential campaign in 2004 (he's not saying which), and significant research for noted business author Charles Ellis on Joe Wilson and the Creation of Xerox, one of The Economist's Books of the Year in 2006. He holds a BA from Yale University, where he studied in the grand strategy programme under Paul Kennedy and John Lewis Gaddis, among others, and an MSc from the London School of Economics. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
