Captain Rupert Hollins joined the Royal Navy in 1987 as a Modern Languages graduate. He has served at sea and ashore in a variety of personnel, policy and logistics appointments. After qualifying as a barrister in 1996 he has held mainly legal appointments, spanning prosecution and defence work at court martial, service discipline, employment and operational law. He joined the Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre (DCDC) in December 2008, where he heads the legal team with responsibility for in-house legal work, weapons law matters and other Law of Armed Conflict issues.
