To ensure the continued solvency of OUSSG and in order to align OUSSG with other associations affiliated with the University of Oxford, new membership fees will be introduced as of Michaelmas Term 2007. We highly regret that we are no longer in a position to offer non-student members the concessionary rates available to current students.

The new membership fees are as follows:

Students £10 per term or £18 per academic year, non-students £20 per academic year. Otherwise non-members attending the OUSSG evening seminars in the Old Library, All Souls College, are charged £2 at the door.

As before, members may (space permitting) arrange to dine with the speakers by application to the Vice-President, at the latest on the Sunday before the seminar. Please see dining for further details. Dinner is £14 for Students and £20 for non-students. Individuals or organisations wishing to dine should contact the Vice-President at vice.president@oussg.org.

Existing members please note that it has also been decided to renew all membership fees at the start of the academic year (i.e. early in Michaelmas Term) in order to make accounting more transparent and manageable. We kindly ask you for your understanding and regret that this administrative change may come at an inconvenient time for some of you. If you are concerned about how this decision will affect you, please contact the Secretary or the Treasurer.

Newsflash

OUSSG held its 2009 annual celebration dinner on Friday 3 July at the Oriental Club, London, preceded by a tour of the FCO. The event was particularly noteworthy as it celebrated the Group's ruby anniversary. In addition to the speech by Mr David Frost CMG, the Gaudy toast was given by Dr Robert Johnson. Please find the text of the toast, on the 40th Anniversary Gaudy's page.
